Books I’ve read lately that I love: Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn, The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg, The Personal MBA by Josh Kaufman, and the Sue Grafton books – I’m on “N” of her Kinsey Millhone series.
Movies streaming on Netflix: Melancholia (not his best, but I love Lars von Trier), Slings and Arrows, Session 9 (moody and beautifully shot), and Friday Night Lights.
Okay, Friday Night Lights. This show is seriously good. But I warn you, you may fall in love with Tami Taylor and become obsessed with Tim Riggins, and the characters may pull you into their world and break your heart.
I grew up in a small town with a football program like this one – sometimes we’ll be watching and I’ll turn to my husband and say “We did that” or “That happened in my town” – and that’s probably one reason I love this show, but even if you don’t know the first thing about football, if you love character studies and good writing, you will probably love it too.
