She wanted photos befitting an accountant – think conservative – and something appropriate for LinkedIn. She brought several suit jackets, several tops and camisoles, and a few work-appropriate dresses. I was pleased to see that she also brought a beautiful purple lace top and a fire-engine red dress so we could venture beyond traditional personal branding shots. You want to have fun and create some looks that show off different sides of yourself.
I always encourage women to bring AT LEAST five outfits, in a range of colors and styles and textures. If you have a gorgeous dress suitable for a Hollywood awards show but no place to wear it, bring it! This is the time to break out the sparkles, the chiffon, the daring cut-to-there slinky outfit.
You can get your LinkedIn shot, and so much more. Think Vanity Fair, think Vogue, think celebrity photos in magazines. We have plenty of time to get multiple looks with multiple lighting scenarios and backdrops. Don’t limit yourself to just one headshot.
