Is there anything better?
Toddlers have their own agenda; their own frustrating, always-changing, joyful agenda. My strategy is to keep moving and constantly adapt. I always tell parents not to worry about what their children are doing. Don’t worry if they are fussy, if they won’t look at the camera, if they throw their books on the floor. My job is to get great photographs no matter what, even with a toddler who has different priorities than we do.
I looked back at my baby book to the time when my daughter was 18 months old: “She’s into everything! She climbs on top of the breakfast room table, pushes the tv around, tries to shake the bamboo shelves in the kitchen, climbs onto the bed, opens the fridge… Exhausting!”
“And she swings her arms from side to side and strides towards you when she’s angry. When she gets close enough, she hits you with her swinging arms. She will also chase you in order to bite you.”
That makes me laugh, although I’m sure at the time it wasn’t so funny.
