Because May 10 is Mother’s Day, I want to take the entire month to celebrate moms who choose to be in the family photos, and not on the sidelines.
There is a campaign on Instagram called #existinphotos, and it’s aimed at women who always put their family in front of the camera, but shy away when it’s their turn. There’s so much to write about on this topic, things about body image, and sexism, and judging women by how they look, and self-worth, and why we think we’re not enough just as we are, but for now, let’s just agree that we all deserve to be in the picture.
