We took a ride on an old-fashioned canal boat pulled by horses down the Ohio & Erie canal. It was built in the early 1800’s and connected Lake Erie and the Ohio River.
The canal is lined along one side with houses whose large backyards slope towards the water. People have chairs and firepits set up along the banks and some people have canoes. The old towpath has been turned into a biking and walking trail and it stretches for miles. This week we plan to rent bikes and ride along the towpath.
