Summer Series {42} Amish country

August 2, Tuesday

Every time I’m home, we drive out to Amish county for an early dinner. There are lots of restaurants that offer Amish cooking where you can load up on good food: pot roast, baked chicken, fried chicken, fried fish, meatloaf, turkey, noodles, mashed potatoes, creamed corn, green beans, sweet potatoes with fluffy marshmallow topping, dressing and gravy, and homemade bread. You can order family style where they bring you platters of food that you pass around your table, or you can choose the buffet.

This time we decided to stop on the way and tour an Amish house, farm and school, and take a buggy ride.
The doll has no face because they are not allowed to have any likenesses or idols. It’s the same reason they don’t liked to be photographed and don’t have any photographs in their homes.
